For falls access, follow the signs veering left along a fern-lined track of approximately 100 metres. Suitable for 2WD in dry weather only, there is room for a couple of cars to park near the walking trail access point. From the car park the walk is approximately 1.6kilometres and will take about 45 minutes to complete. The first section is relatively flat as the path finds its way through the forest and over a bridge.
However, as you step out and take a stroll of further discovery, the well-formed single track soon becomes more challenging with a short but at times steep hill climb to the exquisite waterfall itself, only visible when you're right on top of it.
Phantom Falls cascades over granite boulders before disappearing into the lush fern gully and Taggerty River below.
Horse enthusiasts park at the horse yards in Gallipoli Park, Marysville, entry via Falls Rd. Look for the foot bridge and follow the trail that crosses Stevensons River behind the reserve. Turn right into Woods Point Road and right into Lady Talbot Drive.
For more waterfall adventures be sure to check out Keppel Falls, also on Lady Talbot Drive.
